Today started as a glorious and sunny morning.
But being in the mountains, weather can change quickly and it turned around to fog, fog, more fog and…
The original plan, going up the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier (approx. 3.000m), would not be such a great idea. So hiking in the rain it was going to be instead – a much better plan as this was perfect for the ultimate gear test in wettest conditions. Or was it?
Starting point Künstleralm hotel.
Making new friends on the way. Not sure what the etiquette is here, to pass on the left or the right.
Chosen left, that seemed to be working.
Hut on the mountain with a valley view. Think I saw it on AirBnB.
The campervan was parked there! Somewhere. Very steep down that path anyway.
Maiskogel Alm Ranch. Homemade sausage with fresh horseradish.
The evening had a nice surprise waiting for humble me as a beginning blogger for SundayMoods. The lovely staff of the Künstleralm made some sponsoring available – on top of having the camper van parked on their car park for two nights. This family run hotel situated close to the Kitzsteinhorn just opened its doors in May. Everything looked and smelled fresh, cozy and inviting. Super friendly people and good food, too. The Kaiserschmarrn definitely is a treat after a rainy day walk. But be prepared, the portion is huge which came unexpected but seems to be normal for Austrian standards.
